AUBREY ULIBARRI

COLOR GUARD CAPTION HEAD

Aubrey Ulibarri is a New Mexico based dancer and educator. She grew up dancing in a pre-professional company and began her color guard career in 2013 at Sandia High School.

After graduating, she decided to further pursue performance opportunities with drum corps and winter guard ensembles such as Seattle Cascades (2015), the Academy (2016), Phantom Regiment (2017-2018), Wasatch Independent (2018), and CGT Dallas (2020).

She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of New Mexico, where she has focused her research and practice on the relationship between the marching arts and contemporary dance. While at UNM, Aubrey has been involved with the Spirit of New Mexico Marching Band as a member, undergraduate assistant, and choreographer.

Aubrey is passionate about color guard education and has worked with programs in New Mexico, Utah, Texas, and California. Currently, she serves as a color guard choreographer for La Cueva High School, Volcano Vista High School, and Arsenal Drum and Bugle Corps.

Aubrey is excited to lend her expertise to other programs within the SCMA family and looks forward to joining the Allure staff for their 2025 season.

EDWIN PARKER-MCCONNELL

CHOREOGRAPHER

Edwin Parker-McConnell is a New Mexico based music educator, colorguard instructor, choreographer, show/program designer and founding staff member of Arsenal. He has taught and written for various schools within the southwestern states, and has been a clinician for other schools within the country. Back at home, he has worked with a slew of high school programs and instructors. He first experienced drum corps in 2010 with the Troopers, which proved to be an invaluable learning experience. Since then, he’s spent his time spreading his love of colorguard wherever he’s been able to. Edwin believes that guard is not just about the competition, choreography, and other tangible elements that come along with it. It’s also about the passion, joy, and love that one develops for doing the activity that makes it so wonderful. This is at the foundation of all of his teaching.

Currently, Edwin resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he is the Assistant Director of Bands at La Cueva High School and the Orchestra Director at Roosevelt Middle School. He serves as the colorguard director for the La Cueva and Volcano Vista High Schools.

REID SCHOLZ

CHOREOGRAPHER & INSTRUCTOR

Reid has been teaching color guard across the Mountain West since 2017 most notably working with The Battalion Drum Corps in 2018. Reid has taught at several schools in Arizona as well as in Utah, winning several state championships and caption awards. He has worked with many high school programs in various roles, including the Color Guard Director at Millennium High School from 2020-2024, founder of the Canyon View High School Color Guard 2020-2022, designer and head choreographer for the Cedar Valley High School Color Guard 2023-present, lead weapon tech and choreographer at Sandra Day O’Connor High School 2024-present, and weapon tech at New Palestine High School. Reid performed with Wasatch Independent in 2018 and Fenix Independent from Arizona State University from 2020-2024, serving as a captain in 2024. Reid will be moving to Indiana to march with the Pride of Cincinnati for the 2025 season. Reid focuses his teaching style on the success of his students and has a goal of providing a safe space where students can express their innermost feelings through performance. Reid is excited to join the Arsenal staff this season and help continue to develop the marching arts in the southwest!

STEVEN VILLALOBOS

CHOREOGRAPHER & INSTRUCTOR

Steven Villalobos works in education throughout Los Angeles, California. He started his pageantry as a musician here for many years. He grew up taking piano lessons at a very young age and continued studying music until he was old enough to join his school’s music program. Steven’s color guard career soon followed in 2013 at Nogales High School. He went on to march with the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and performed with several other Drum Corps and Winter Guard ensembles after graduating, such as Vessel DBC (2019), The Cavaliers DBC (2021), and Vox Artium WG (2024). Steven currently has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California Polytechnic University of Pomona. During his time at CPP, Steven joined the school’s dance program to choreograph and perform for the Department of Theatre and New Dance. His love for child development and clinical practice currently impacts his decision to pursue a PsyD in Educational Psychology this upcoming year. Steven is very passionate about building curriculums for both Dance and Color Guard in his community. He served as a coach for many programs throughout the Rowland Unified school district including: Rowland High School, Nogales High School, Telesis Academy of Science and Math, and Giano Intermediate School. He now works as a substitute teacher and color guard director for both Nogales High School and Giano Intermediate School. In the evening, Steven dedicates his time to working with his community at Rowland Adult School. He enjoys teaching adult education and finds happiness in helping his students succeed. His job as an educator here is just the beginning of a brighter future. Steven is excited to join Arsenal and the SCMA family this upcoming season. He looks forward to working with the staff and cannot wait to move together this summer.

ANDREA FLORES

INSTRUCTOR

Andrea has been involved in Color Guard since 2013. She was a member of the La Cueva High School marching band and winter guard in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon graduating she marched in The Spirit of New Mexico Marching Band at UNM for three years. Andrea then expanded her experience by marching with The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from 2018-2021. Andrea pursued teaching upon graduating from La Cueva. She served as a choreographer and technician for La Cueva from 2017-2018. She was the director of Manzano High School’s Color Guard program from 2018-2020. She also co-directed and choreographed for the Spirit of New Mexico Marching Band. She has worked with a number of programs in New Mexico and Texas as a choreographer and technician. Andrea joined the Bomb Squad Staff in 2024 and is excited to be back for another year!
