SERGIO AMADOR

Brass Caption Head

Sergio Amador is a graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he received his Bachelor’s in Music Education. He is currently back at UTEP pursuing a graduate degree in Music Performance on Horn. He is also currently a Graduate Assistant at UTEP working with the marching miners. While at UTEP, he has performed in many ensembles, including the Wind Symphony, Marching Miners, Symphony Orchestra, Horn Choir, and Concert Band (Clarinet/Trombone). He has also performed at many prestigious clinics and conventions such as 2018 TMEA Convention, 2017 Midwest International Band & Orchestra Clinic and the 2019 Honors Performance Series College Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Mr. Amador is a marching advocate and has several years of experience working on staff with the bands in the local circuit.

He has worked extensively with the Eastlake Band during their marching season, and by providing Horn Masterclasses and lessons. In 2021, he marched Drum Corps International with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, Wyoming.

Matthew Hernandez

Assistant Brass Caption Head

Matthew Hernandez is a Texas native who began his musical career in San Angelo Texas. Matthew attended Angelo State University in San Angelo where he was actively involved with the music program . He performed in various chamber ensembles, the ASU Wind Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra, Basketball Band, and Marching band while also making guest appearances in local churches and community ensembles. Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2023 and is now working as the Middle School Director/Assistant HS director at Merkel ISD.

Matthew began his Drum Corps Experience with Horizon DBC in 2016, and marched with the Blue Knights in 2019. Matthew continued to appear in the marching arts community as an assistant marching clinician/marching tech in the West/Central Texas area, visual staff member at Arsenal DBC in 2024, and as an ensemble consultant at Ethereal Winds in their 2025 season.

Matthew works towards fostering positive growth through hard work and dedication in music and hopes to continually spread the love of music to as many people as possible.

GABRIELA TELLEZ

BRASS TECHNICIAN

Gabriela Tellez is a native of El Paso, Texas. As a graduate of Coronado High School, she attended the University of El Paso where she obtained a Music Education degree in 2021. During her time at UTEP she participated in the UTEP Marching Miners, Mariachi Los Mineros, the Symphonic band, the Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Brass Choir, Symphony Orchestra, UTEP Pep Band, and various trumpet ensembles. She has also had the chance to perform with several different ensembles at the International Trumpet Guild and the International Women’s Brass Conference.

Gabby has been involved in teaching with the local marching arts in El Paso since 2016 and has taught at various schools, including Bowie High School, Coronado High School, Riverside High School and currently Bel Air High School. Her Drum Corps experience includes performing with Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps from San Antonio, TX in the summer of 2016. She is currently on brass staff with Arsenal Drum and Bugle Corps. Gabby has experience working with all levels of music from Elementary to High School. She is currently one of the Assistant Directors at Bel Air High School in El Paso, TX.

Cameron Wilson

Member

Cameron Wilson was born and raised in Austin, Texas. In high school, he studied euphonium with Joe Dollard and marched for four years with the acclaimed Dripping Springs High School marching band. In 2018, he joined the Marching Jayhawks at the University of Kansas, where he studied under Scott Watson, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2022.

In 2023, he joined the Santa Fe High School as head band director. Cameron performs locally with Chamber Chops, High Desert Winds, Tri-M Productions, and Concordia. In his free time, he makes jewelry, reads, bakes cookies, and acts as a jungle gym for his two birds.

Sergio Villarreal Bañuelos

Sergio is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

His drum corps experience includes performing with Arsenal Drum & Bugle Corps in 2019, Crossmen from 2020 to 2022, and Carolina Crown in 2023, where he returned for his age-out season in 2024.

As an educator, Sergio has served as a visual and/or music instructor at Montwood High School from 2021 to 2023, contributing to the program’s growth and student success.

Joseph Barrios

Member

Joseph Barrios was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Andress High School and from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor’s in Horn Performance.

Joseph has performed in the UTEP Wind Symphony, UTEP Horn Choir, UTEP Marching Band and Pep Band, UTEP Symphony Orchestra, UTEP Symphonic Band, UTEP Ceremonial Brass, and UTEP Concert Band. He has also performed at the 2017 Midwest Convention, the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and the 2019 American Bandmasters Association Convention.

Outside of UTEP, Joseph has played with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company (2016-2018), and the Paso Del Norte Symphony Orchestra (2017-2020), currently playing with the El Paso Ballet Company (2022-present) Ethereal Winds Independent (2025-present).

Joseph has also worked with several El Paso schools during marching and concert seasons for several years: Andress HS (2014-2016), H. E. Charles MS (2019), Burges HS (2019-2022), Ross MS (2019-2020), Magoffin MS (2019-2020), and is currently working at Austin High School (2023-present), Ethereal Winds Independent (2025-present)
